Vickery’s indoor and outdoor event options, surrounded by nature, make it an ideal location for banquets and wedding receptions.
Club membership programs are available that provide great value, camaraderie, organized competition, and enjoyable social events. A large practice area with grass tees, putting green, and sand bunker is conveniently located for a pre-round warm-up or some quality practice time before or after work.

Meet the Southbridge Savannah Golf Club Team

Michael Butler
General Manager
Michael grew up in Savannah and graduated from Benedictine where he played on the golf team.
After high school, he went on to play collegiately at Florida Junior College and Jacksonville State University where he was awarded All-American honors and was chosen to represent the United States in the World Golf Games held in Montpelier, France. In 2000 he was hired as the Men’s Golf Coach at Armstrong State University and in 2005 started the school’s Women’s Golf program.
Michael was recognized as the 2001 East Chapter PGA Teacher of the year.
Michael earned an Executive Certificate in Leadership at Florida State University School of Business. He is a member of the International PGA. He is a member of the Benedictine Military School and Armstrong State University Hall Of Fame. Michael was a two time NCAA All-American at Jacksonville State University. Michael was named GCAA Southeast Region Coacher of the year 2005 and 2014.
After competing in the 1993 PGA Tour qualifying school tournament, Michael began his club professional career at Southbridge Savannah Golf Club as Assistant Golf Professional in 1995 and in two years he was promoted to Director of Instruction at Southbridge Golf Club.

Shane Traver, PGA
Head Golf Professional
Shane was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan and started playing golf when he was 5 years old. He currently resides in Guyton, GA with his wife, Monica and her daughter Aaliyah.
Shane played golf throughout his entire high school years and was the first student at Anchor Bay HS to ever qualify for the State Golf Tournament. He won silver and bronze medals in the US Junior Olympics during 2003-2005. He was ranked “Top 10” in Michigan as an amateur and was acknowledged in the “Who’s Who Among American High School Students Sports Edition”.
In 2007, he graduated from the SDGA Golf Academy with a Business Degree in Golf Management. Shane was part of the “Top 5” to hold the lowest handicap and won two prestigious tournaments including the PGA Matchplay and PGA Stroke Play Championships.
After college, he started his golf career as an Assistant Golf Professional working throughout South Florida including, The Old Course at Broken Sound, Via Mizner Country Club. He previously worked at The Club at Boca Pointe as the 1st Assistant Golf Professional down in Boca Raton, Fl for the past 3.5 years and was the lead instructor at the country club.
In 2023 he entered the PGA Associates Program where he passed his PAT finishing 2nd place and is working towards a Class A PGA Membership. He is a Certified Master Club Repair Professional and has experience in Junior Clinics. He is also a very capable instructor with over 19 years of teaching, that will be able to help any golfer achieve their goals.
When Shane is not golfing, he enjoys bowling and has bowled 4-300 games and 2-800 series, last season he finished with an 813 series.
Shane’s motto: “How can a game have such an effect on a man’s soul, the way I see it how can it not, you don’t choose the game it chooses you, when it does life and golf become forever connected”

Dean Boyles
Director of Agronomy
Dean Boyles studied at the University of South Carolina-Beaufort. Dean has been involved in multiple golf course startups and renovations in the Blufton/Beaufort,SC.
Dean is currently a member of GCSAA.

Jimmy Stevens
Pro Shop Staff
Jimmy has been a valued member of Southbridge since 2004 and joined the Pro Shop Staff in 2020. Currently, he oversees GHIN memberships and offers assistance with various administrative tasks as needed.

Ron Magoon
Pro Shop Staff
Ron is a retired Coast Guard pilot who joined the Pro Shop staff in 2024. He is a valved team member who helps out
wherever necessary.
